The exhaust (rear muffler and tailpipes) is pretty much rusted off my 92 F-150 4x4 w/351. What choices do you guys go with? Muffler shop, prefabbed system like Borla? I don't have a welder and it seems like the crappy exhaust clamps just make another seam for rust to start on.
Do all the 351's come with the dual pipes that exit the rear? I'd rather just have one larger single.
I've done a little reading and it looks like I won't really gain any power from an aftermarket/performance exhaust. I'm not looking into headers, just the "cat-back" part.
Gibson makes a nice cat-back that is relatively inexpensive, around $200 I think. You can use clamps, and if you pay a dollar more for each and get stainless steel, it'll never rust. I think that it comes with a 3" stainless tip, has a nice sound too. Shouldn't have a problem with rust. If you really want, go to a local muffler shop and pay one of the guys $30 or $40 to weld all the joints shut.
I've got their dual sport system, i heard the single pipe one is to quiet. Check there stuff out at Gibsonexhaust.com. The best price i saw when i bought mine was 300 or so at coolwheels.com.
