I am looking to buy a exhaust today. I wanted to get a t-409 ss exhaust in the 5" inch size. It seems the only 5" size comes in aluminized. Whay is that. I have a 2002 f-350 crewcab 7.3 shortbed. Will a 4 inch fit the bill? I have installed the AIS air intake and just recieved my 3 pillar ISSpro guage setup to install. (pryo, boost and trans temp). I plan on getting a DP tuner but unsure of what performance tunes i want. I do tow a 12,000 lb trailer in so i want the correct tunes for that also. But back to my exhaust ? Any help? 4in ch or 5 inch? also from what i read I believe I will go with the "no muffler" setup. But can i still hear the radio? or will it be very noisy without a muff. any help will be great Jeff
Will a 4" work? Yes but you will always wonder what that 5 would sound like. But I have never seen 5" stainless so if they salt regularly up there the SS will give you much more life.
As far as the sound with my 5" straight pipe if I dont want to hear it I just roll up the pass window. The Turbo acts like a muffler on these trucks it is not as loud as you think it will be. My radio rarely gets above 1/4 volume.
most of us run this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-03...mZ320042696126very good fit and good guy to buy from..he has other size as well..its not stainless ..i lve in a very salted road coditions..so i painted my pips black with stove pant..(good up to 1200 dagrees)its not showing any rust at all as of now..ill repaint it this spring..a strait pipe diesel isnt any louder then a gasser with headers..just sounds a lot better...good luck my friend..
I just got mine from MKO, Or should I say that I ordered the 5". I'll be getting it on Tuesday. I'll let you know how it goes. I like the idea of painting the pipes black too. If I get a new didital camera by then, I'll take some pics, maybe even try to record the first "CANNON BLAST"
I'm getting pretty excited aabout all of this at this point.
The 5", from what I've read, will not give any more performance capability over the 4". The 4" will lower your egt's and sound great too. 5" is IMO just for sound. There are a bunch of great systems out there so have fun shopping. Ron has shown the most popular 5" and I would check MBRP Stainless for a 4".
Again, 4" will give all the egt reduction as a 5" just a different sound.

There are people running dual stacks. I ran single 4inch and I love it. My wife wishes I would have run duals now because I always roll her window down to listen to the exhaust.
i want to get the 5in just cause it is that much cooler..., but thats anouther day. that darn money thing stopes me every time. tho i think a duel 4in would be cool also but i would want it strait out the back like the gassers have it. just think about being the honda behind you then
