AOD Identification Help

I just purchased a used AOD for my 1951 F-1 project and need some help decoding the tag as Google cam up with nothing.

The tag number is PKA CL4 030356 K29 E6AP AC.

I think it is a 1986 but would like to be sure and what engine and vehicle it came from. Thanks in advance.

You know about the TV cable adjustment, right?

November 29, rather. K is 11. Year doesn't too much matter. There was a early style and a late style. 86 would be early.

K is 11 if you count, but K is October if you are Ford and you don't use the "I".

I retract my above statement. Didn't know ford skipped the I. Learn something new everyday.

Thank you for the info. Any way of telling what vehicle or engine it came behind?

I just bought a 1988 F150 with an AOD. What is this TV cable adjustment you speak of?

Throttle valve. It controls pressure in the trans to make it shift up and down correctly, amongst other things.

Does your truck shift correctly, and downshift correctly?

It's driveable, but I am having the same symptoms as this described in this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l-to-call.html. The transmission is quick to shift up, but downshifts require a lot of throttle. It seems to shift back down through the gears as I am slowing to a stop just fine. I use "D" around town, and "OD" on the highway. The downshift out of 4th is pretty harsh when I am going up a hill on the highway. The TV cable adjustment looks pretty simple, I found a good video tutorial here
. Any gotchas?
