Joe,
I ordered the replacement harnesses from Mac's and am staying with the 6v for now. I have a rebuilt 52 flathead in it and there were just a couple of wires that I needed to extend in the 46 harness. I didn't have any of the gauges or speedo reconditioned; I will be keeping my fingers crossed on that. My boyfriend, who was the wiring guru, passed away in December so I am left trying to figure it out as I go along. Once I figured out the harness and wiring diagrams, it was fairly easy to hook up, especially considering my lack of knowledge. The next thing I need to figure out is how to wire the turn signal kit/parking lights conversion, which has me a bit confused and baffled right now. Good luck on your project. It's always a good idea to have a plan of action!

fordgal,
Thanks for the info. I'm terribly sorry about your boyfriend. Wish I could help with your turn signal wiring questions but that stuff is like Chinese math to me. Hopefully some of the more knowledgable folks on the forum can chime in to help. Keep us posted with your progress.

This weekend I worked on cleaning up and getting the heater ready to install. I really should have taken a 'before' picture; a lot of work was needed to get it into shape. I had the heater core cleaned and tested so it should be ready to go except for figuring out the heater switch wiring.

Looks awesome! Some of us only need look at our own heaters to imagine what your before picture would have looked like. I know your boyfriend is smiling down upon your results.

fordgal,
Did you ever get the turn signals squared away? That heater is looking great! Warmer weather is just around the corner and we are looking forward to more pics of your truck.

Joe, I think I have the turn signals figured out. Time will tell if I figured it out correctly. Last weekend I ran the wires from the tail lights and stop switch into the cab. I planned on running the parking lights wires this weekend, but it was 10 below zero this morning. Even though my workshop is heated, the concrete floor is not! I feel like I've done a lot of work on it, but nothing that can be seen in pictures. I also wired the electric fuel pump and drilled holes in the firewall insulator so the heater can be put in. I'm sure it will go in with no problems (ha, ha). Thanks for asking!

Funny how many things I think will be "no problem" turn into "whats wrong with this @$#&*% thing". It was -10˚ here this morning also and I'm waving the surrender flag. I can't wait for Spring!

I tried attaching the turn signal contraption to the steering column yesterday and everything I touched resulted in another problem; it was one thing after another. Luckily the old turn signal kit was the same model so I had back up parts. I tried again tonight and things went much better. I also found a nos ammeter on ebay that I successfully put in tonight. Here's the turn signals mounted. I am going to paint the metal strap that holds it in place.

Looking good! I think that is the same turn signal system that I got for my truck. Keep the updates coming!

Looks pretty nice and clean in there! Turn signals will be a nice addition. Some days things just don't cooperate. Best to walk away and start fresh, sometimes all it takes is lunch to clear the head.

I got the radiator back from the radiator shop so I sanded it down and put some paint on it. I will be putting it in tomorrow night with any luck. I am just waiting to get the gas tank back, it is being dipped and lined. That is the final piece of the puzzle I need so I can try starting it up. I should be able to pick it up next weekend. Here's a couple shots of the radiator.

Had to get new radiator pipes so I painted them the engine color. I installed the radiator and attached all the hoses. Still waiting on getting the gas tank back. I'm going to have a mechanic come over one of these weekends to check the wiring before I try starting it.

Looking good as usual! Where did you get the pipes? I can only find chrome ones.
