Not intending to derail but, I've always used anti seize with no issues. Is there a reason why some recommend not to use it and some say it's OK?

anti seize is a lubricant and it is possible to over-torque the lug and stretch the stud.

that is to say, that 150ft-lb dry applies less stretch to the stud than 150ft-lb with anti sieze.

that being said, a 5/8 grade 8 bolt can handle over 200ft-lb (dry) and at least 150ft-lb (lubed), so i don't think it is something to worry about IMO.

some say it can lead to self-loosening, but i think with them torqued down that tight it is impossible.

Anti seize wil not loosen anything. How would spark plugs stay if true? I realize a torque value will change, but who is seriously using a torque wrench on wheels in any garage? They air gun them past the point a 4 way can break them loose half the time.
Both sides make sense here, is it needed, no. Will it hurt, no.

Years ago Ford torque values in the manual were specified for lug nuts w/ lubricated threads.

I think as long as you put the anti seize only on the studs you'll be fine, just don't get them on the lug nut where it mates to the rim. This could cause the nuts to not stay tight. Putting anti seize on the hub is all you probably would need to do since it's the corrosion caused by the aluminum wheel/steel hub that's causing the issues.I never use anti seize and haven't had any wheels that wouldn't come off, but I've seen it happen to other people.

So more follow-up.

Had the truck scheduled in for a trailer brake install (and the tire rotation that they didn't do) and a new key fob (truck only came with one, wife needs one? ). Picked it up, asked how much and they replied 'nothing'. Guess that shows that the dealership is willing to look after their customers.
