77 Flareside

Hey all....I've been off the grid for a while just now getting back to the restoration of my 77 F100 Flareside, just past the nine year journey of putting the truck back together as close to original as possible. So far no offshore parts!

Looking for some help with the box. Anyone have some pics or drawings that show the proper tail light brackets for this year truck?

Was the license plate fastened below the tail light or ????

Did the 77's have side markers that mounted to the tail light bracket or was this discontinued in '76?

Thanks for the help.

Rick

I don't have a picture of the brackets (could probably get in a few days), but on my '79 the license plate was not under the tail light. It was under the bed/bumper.

Thanks for the reply. I tried a google images search for the truck however everything was either customized or the back of the truck isn't visible.

Is your license plate bracket and light part of the same piece?

Found it! Turns out there are two different brackets depending on the serial number of the truck.

83 = Flareside body style. Parts catalog omitted the letter (Y) before the 20,000 serial number.

Left (lower): 1976 & 1977 before serial number Y20,001 / Right (lower): 1977 from serial number Y20,001 & 1978/79.

More or less, yes. The light assembly it fastened to the bracket.
