I am looking at A-pillar gauge pods and have run across a few that do not so one for an Excursion but for Super Duties of the same years. Will this work or not?

Yep, they'll work just fine.
Anything Superduty of the same year will fit from the front bumper to about the end of the driver and passenger door (inside and out and not 2005 SuperDuties). After that it's pretty much Excursion specific.
