It has oft been said that therapists need therapists. Robin was a man who excelled at lifting others spirits and as consequence became famous for his positive persona. When someone is known for being positive, they often hide the struggles they face deeper than most, or share it with far fewer people. This aloofness can lead to feelings of isolation, and deepen the pain they feel.

There is a thread in the club about this too. This is what I wrote there. I have had a lot of experience with people who took their own lives. It is such a waste to us but relief for them.

Depression and mental anguish can be the worst pain you can imagine. If any of you remember the people who jumped out the windows of the twin towers, it is much the same. People don't want to die, but the prospect of staying where they are is worse. Death is not appealing, but life is agonizing. Whether it is hanging or cutting wrists or anything painful, it is still less painful than the way they are, and they think it will bring relief. So temporary pain is okay.

Those left behind will always be trying to figure out what they could have done differently, or why didn't they see any signs of it coming, and struggle with guilt. You never get over a heartache like this, you just find some way to get to the next day.

Robin Williams is gone, but maybe he will save others. Maybe this will inspire others to get help. He will be missed.

All joking aside?

I think it was a bad idea.

WHY he had that idea I couldn't even begin to fathom.

BUT IT'S DONE.

I don't want to comment on what I think of someone who does that - I already left another website behind because of the outrage surrounding my statements.

He quit.

We have not....

I really don't know what else to say.

It should be a "NO BRAINER":
DO NOT kill yourself...

It's right up there with "LOOK BEFORE YOU CROSS THE STREET"

DAMMIT Rob - you shouldn't have done that.

After all those years of making so many people happy - WHY DID YOU HURT US THIS WAY?

(and yeah - though I may disagree, it does hurt)
