A kiss at midnight...
Unintentional
Not meant
But taken anyway
And returned
Twice regretted
And oft burned
Sean a man both proud and strong
But Shamus one who'd loved her long
She turned tha one away that day
And though she loved them both watched him walk away
The younglings went the seperate ways
But the memories stayed in all those days
And as they grew old, came back to them
As if to put them both in shame
Long ever the fishers plyed
Until one day poor Shamus died
And the young bride had her heart bereaved
And Sean returned thinking all releaved
But patience had not done with her
She wished the man come up from the sea
And so his heart was still undone
For that she had to Neptunes own a plea
And years went by, and she was alone
They fisherman was many wives gone
Afore she accepted that he was gone
But by that time she was alone......
So AYE the bell tolls off they shore,
For wishes borne norevermore
An fishwive never seeing goodman home...
And ever living life alone.....
