I personally wouldn't buy that, it's most likely a chineese procomp piece of crap. just watch out buying the cheap knock off parts, they will usually come back to bite you.

My little brother and I just changed his rotor capadapt and cap to the male stud type, that I think 79 and up trucks had. Don't quote me on the year I cant remember to be honest, just my hazy memory. Its the bigger cap with male posts. All parts were purchased at the local parts house.
OK so after typing all that Its dawned on me that you already bought the other dizzy, so that one will work, but keep your stocker around. Looking forward to updates.

Well today was a productive day. Did the headlight switch even though I didn't have the socket to get the radio ***** undone. I was just extra careful lol.

The new distributor arrived. Think it should do good for the driving I do.

Well I did some night driving. All is good again!! Atleast for lights..

On highway I was getting surging and sputtering etc. thinking I got to dump tank and bite the bullet for a new one and pickup. Might get away with changing fuel filter by fuel pump to...

SO grumpy's last fire up on the points system. It wasnt bad but he was getting hot and not wanting to run right. think it was a bit worn on the shaft.

Well New HEI distributor is in. timed it all up. moved the fuel line, got a swanky new air filter, had to get some thread all to get the new tall filter into place!

HE ROARS! ... when it doesnt starve of fuel because the tank is full of crud and keeps filling up fuel filters now. If i drive like grandpa, it's okay. But if I start having fun, plugs off...

So now the fun of pricing out a new tank and pickup (my gauge doesnt work)...

73 long box, aft tank, 302, standard, no power steering or brakes.

Also to pick your guy's brains some more....
bought a fuel cap off ebay. "CARQUEST 34021" and it does not fit. hole wise it does but the fingers on the back side of the cap just dont go far enough into the filler to be able to turn the cap to close it.

Should I just get a new filler neck if im getting a new tank etc? or do i stick whith what i got and find a different cap?

To bad your not closer as I've got an auxillary and rear tank available. Had a hard time myself trying to find a new cap that fit right, JY time.

You might have set up your float to high, happens often enough. try getting one of those plastic inline filters and backwash it when it gets plugged, should be able to find a spot between the frame and pump to mount it. Use a pop can as a protective shroud. old farmer trick for when the farmer your working for has an old fuel tank. Purple dye don't clean the fuel.

Those paper measuring gauges are a pita for accuracy, if you want I can mail you one of the filler caps in the shop. I can't use them as I have F-ING PITA locking gas caps for security reasons. The ones I have are plain janes, 1 small painted silver and one big painted blue insides are the same but the hand hold part are different sizes. Only going to use them to throw at tomcats and it would save a jy trip.

Okay. So what I got was - CARQUEST 34021 Stant 10731 Fuel Tank Cap 1973-77

what you listed is Ford Truck GAS CAP, REPLACEMENT STYLE, PRIOR PART NUMBERS D7UZ-9030-L, MTC FC-792 1973 - 1976 F100-F250 S/SIDE, W/ EV/EM

Seems your # comes up in searches as "deep cam" which is what I need because I believe my truck has the emissions crap. has the charcoal canister lower passenger side in engine bay.

guess that answers my question on type of fuel tank i need to lol

SO

Ordered a new fuel cap.
Made a deal with buddy for a new tank and sending/pickup
He got the tank emptied and off the truck.
New tank arrived.
sending unit didn't ship for a WEEK! bad review for that guy...

Pulled the tank

Pickup/sender in bad shape. not too bad but not great.

Then I took a couple shots of inside the tank... yeah.. not sure if it is supposed to be coated with that black stuff or not..

And the NEW tank!

Still no new pickup/sender unit...
