1995 F150 302. it's my buddy's father-in-law's truck. I'm supposed to look at it tomorrow with my buddy. I don't know a whole lot about it except what he told me. supposedly the truck will run for a little while then die, I wish I knew how long this period was. he said you have to turn the key on 5-6 times again before it will start. he also said it will do this on both tanks. I don't know much about these older trucks since I was born in 1991, but I guess that's what I get for being the buddy that's a mechanic. I figured that I would come here first to see if there is something common that will go bad on these trucks. should I look at fuel or is there anything else that's pretty simple/common? I appreciate any help in advance.
Stalls after few minutes (perhaps equates to runs weak) plus "have to turn the key on 5-6 times again before it will start".
Based on those couple comments I'd start out checking its fuel pressure. Another real good place to start troubleshooting would be running the self test check for any stored codes to see what if anything the computer knows about it.
Keep in mind issues directly related to ignition problems, miss fires, weak spark, no spark etc, the computer won't know a thing about those like todays vehicles so do keep that in mind.
ok, I'll definitely look at this. he'll be here in a few minutes. I brought all sorts of tools from work since I have no idea what we're going to be doing. I appreciate your help. I'll let y'all know if I figure something out.
