Tow haul flashing

I have a new to me 2003 excursion with 140,000 miles. Already replaced batteries and FICM. occasionally once every two weeks on first drive in the morning shift from one to two is slow and tow haul light will flash. I use scan gauge II to clear codes and all works fine. I can force it to happen by engaging tow/haul button. Tow haul lights flash and I can clear with scan gauge and everything seems to work fine. I took it to dealer and they read a P2703 code and a P0730 codes they said to just keep driving it tell t gets worse. Any ideas on what is going on?

Looks like a shift solenoids are going bad. I'd start looking for a reputable tranny shop. A rebuild is coming sooner rather than later. I'd drain the tranny pan and top off with fresh fluid

I've never been a fan of trans flushes on working transmissions. But if your alternative is a rebuild and lots of cost changing solenoids I would dump some transmission cleaner/fix all into the transmission (you might have to drain a little to fit it in there) and run it for awhile, like a 100 miles. And then have a full flush done at quickie lube or such. It might help free up something stuck. It cannot hurt any more.

I think that's a really bad collection of ideas.

First, transmission cleaner/fix is just a way to insure that you'll need a rebuild. Don't put that crap into an automatic transmission!

Next, no quick lube place can do a full flush on a TorqShift transmission. They can connect it, and think they did it, but they can't actually change all of the fluid. This transmission has an internal thermostat and if their flush machine isn't heated (and it isn't) they can't flush the trans.

Your problem is because one or more shift solenoids are getting sticky. If you do keep driving it you will need a transmission rebuild. You may be able to fix the stick solenoids.

How long has it been since the trans fluid was changed? How about the external filter? The internal filter NEVER needs to be changed. I have fixed this exact problem by changing the fluid in the pan (only use MERCON SP or MERCON LV) and changing the external filter. Then drive it for a while an often the nearly microscopic debris that is making the solenoids stick will get cleaned out.

I agree ^ trans conditioner is just another "money grabbing scheme and hec with the owner". All it is is a solvent that softens seals but could take some time and to what degree? It could soften some too much and others not at all. The theory is; the front pump seal will soften and start holding oil and the clutch piston seals will soften and start holding more pressure...............don't use it.
Sorry I couldn't do this;, and never will.
