03 6.0 100,000 miles has studs no tuners had transmission flushed at ford dealer, started home, worked fine shifted perfect. I have to go over a mountain got nearly to top and started acting funny thought the engine was missing but it was the trans , not sure if it wanted to down shift and couldn't or slipping. Made it home with no more problems went back over the mountain the next day did the same thing. Got home checked fluid couldn"t touch it on the stick. Went to the dealer on Monday told service department about fluid, they pulded it in checked it over said it was fine. Going back home over the mountain did same thing, tried a couple of times. Appears if you drive normal it does it but if you stay in pretty good it dosn't just wondering if anyone else has had this problem after a flush and what do yall think I should do. Any help appriciated.
When they flushed it did they also change the auxillary filter at the passenger front corner of the truck? Also, are you sure they used Mercon SP and is it the first tranny service?

yes they changed the filter and used mercon SP, don't know about the service, I didn't buy the truck new.
have you checked the fluid when it is up to temp on level ground with the truck running? also have you tried tow/haul mode to see if it repeats when in tow/haul mode?
Just because you had it flushed at the dealer doesn't mean that they used Mercon SP...personal expereriance....I still ouldn't believe it,,,but it happens. Smell the fluid...you will definately know if its MERCON SP....very distinct rotton smell. Also...is there an elevation sensor? I can't remember just off hand...but I think there is and it may be related to fluid capacities....you spoke of a mountain...sounds like you could be pretty high up...just thinking out loud here...and lastly have you gone through a Torqshift relearn process....this may help. I would disconnect both batteries (load test them while you have them disconnected)....hook them back up and go through the relearn procedure. Good luck.

it is mercon sp i watched the tech fill the mechine from quart cans.
don't know about sensor.
i thought about the relearn process but didn't know if flushing would cause it to change.
Does it seem more like a "lugging" situation than the tranny slipping??? 50mph is kind of like a "no mans land" for the 6.0 and 5R110. Next time it happens click the tow/haul button and see if it changes at all, cause I'm thinking it's not really your tranny. Or maybe it's liking the fresh fluid and the clutches are getting a little more "grip" instead of slip and the motor is working harder.
