This morning I noticed a bolt head on the driveway. It was about the size bolt heads that I had cut during the axle swap so I just chunked it in the recycling bin.
Later this morning, after an errand, I started the truck and didn't have power steering or brakes. Turns out the bolt head broke off and I guess the rest of the bracket wasn't strong enough with just the other two bolts.
I've got a bracket on order (FordParts.com is half the price the dealership quoted, the same dealership I'll be picking up the part from) and believe I'll have it Monday.
I've never heard of this bracket breaking, anyone else? I have had the reservoir cap be spontaneously ejected during the last ice storm. An ice covered parking caused me to do a lot of lock to lock steering corrections during "training maneuvers". I suspect this is unrelated though.
