Hey guys/gals.......I recently re-geared my truck to 4.30's, and I want to get my speedo calibrated for my 37's. I have it calibrated for 35's, that I used to run, so it's not really that far off now, but I want to get it dialed in exact. My DP will work properly if it's dialed in better as well.
Now to my question! Can AE be used to change the signal for the speedo? I was told by someone that it can do that. Obviously, I would need to remove the DP from the PCM when it's adjusted too right? I don't know anyone locally who has an AE either. I use my old Superchip to read codes.....
It make no difference what's attached to the PCM, so the DP can stay on there. AE uses the OBDII port and you make a connection to the ABS module. Once in there, you can find the correction for the tire size.
I tried to use AE to set mine and a friends ratio and it would take us to the point of selecting tire size (not give us an option) and then do nothing. I had to use something else to set my tire size.

Have you ever used it to adjust/account for a tire or gear swap? I was told by Justin at DP to remove my DP before hooking up the AE.....I'm confused a bit I guess? I've never used AE...
you can use the AE to recalibrate the speedo. when you get to tire size you have to go through a series of steps to set it. i forget exactly what it is though.
I used the go-by's that had been posted here and we tried it several times. I can get about half way through but then when you get to the section with the drop down menu to select the tire size, the drop down does not change and give me options. Someone posted a step-by-step on here some time ago and we followed it to the letter and it just never did work. I tried it on my 02 and then on his 06 and failed on each one.
I finally broke down and purchased a hypertech unit just to set my speedo.
I would consider that, but I'm really not that far out of whack, since it's already calibrated for 35's. I currently do 74.1 mph GPS, when the speedo is showing 70 mph. Not bad......but not perfect! I would love to find somebody local with an AE to try it out. As far as I know, there is nobody from FTE on here from my city....
open up the anti lock brake section.
then open test onboard systems.
click on the drop down box tire size configuration.
when you see the tire size configuration operation ready for input box open, ignore it.
click on the < for smaller tire size, or > for larger tire size. then click on done.
the new tire size will show in the instruction window.
once configuration process is complete, and you get the successful configuration message, you need to cycle the key off and back on to establish the new tire size
That was the problem, when we got to the < > to select tire size, it would not move up or down and give options. Not much of an issue now that I used something else to do it but I might try this again with another truck and see what happens.

If you ever make it down to the Valley I can take a look at it for you, I have AE and have used it many times to adjust the speedo on my Excursion,) it had 35's on it but was still set for factory when I bought it, then when the new baby came Momma got tired of jumping and I put 33's on it and put the 35's on my truck, since it needed tires too.)
It does work on the Fords, though it won't do it for my Cummins for some reason.. I have the domestic pack for AE and there was a 1/2" difference in tire size between my 35s. I can adjust it with my programmer, but not with the AE.
I take my AE with me on road trips usually, I changed it while my wife drove, it took 3 trys to get the speedo as close as possible to GPS.

I appreciate that! I don't see myself down there anytime soon though. I had it re-geared down there though. Awesome place, AZ differential specialists.
