Amos F-350 Build Thread

Ok so the deal is sealed and I'll be picking the truck up in about a month so time to start the shopping and building process. This won't be a quick build we have it budgeted out to have the engine work and most of the body work done by next June.

The truck is a 86' F-350 crew cab super duty, 6.9l, C6 Tranny rebuilt 15k miles ago but needs new front seal. It was originally 2wd but has been converted to 4wd dually with an external transfer case front and rear axles are 3.73 lockers. I have a Single rear wheel axle out of an 86' F-350 lined up to replace the DRW have to swap the gears but that I can do plus it's free.

Budget for the engine rebuild is $4k maybe 5 here's what I've got so far;
Sealed power gasket kit + manifold gasket - $240 o'rielly's
New Piston Ring set - 208.95 NAPA
Comp cam 910-16 valve springs - $80 Summit racing
R-1119 7.3l rocker arms - $32.99/pair Summit racing
Custom cam grind either torque or type 1 not sure which - around $350
RD2-90 fuel pump - $700
R&D injectors - $ 300 roughly
Head studs - Only found on high impact diesel so far $300
ATS 093 Turbo kit haven't found one yet $600-$1000 from what I've seen.
So roughly $3000 depending on turbo price.

The alternator is new and so are all 8 of the injector feed lines. I know there is more and I'll post more info as I get it.

So that's what I have so far let me know what you think any suggestions are appreciated different cheaper sources I missed. This is my first build so I welcome the help of all those who have done it before.

Thank Again,
Amos

e-Bay has the best prices I've seen for 6.9L ARP studs. Usually $215-$220 shipped, today I'm seeing $240-ish shipped:

Thanks for the input on the studs. Just seemed cheap to me. I guess I haven't looked for 6.9 parts in a while. 7.3L are way more on the powerstoke.

look at your rear axle closely sometimes there is a spacer you can take out or you might be able to just swap the hubs.
I would also look in to doing something about the trans, the c6 was great in it's day, but there is better out there. My 88 came with a c6 and I could smoke one in two weeks if I didn't baby it around when I was working

I'll have to see what they have at the you pull it yard but I know I can get a tranny and all the connecting parts there for 150-200. I know they have 88' 91' 93' and 94' diesel trucks mostly f-250 there just can't remember what they had for tranny's. I know the 94 has the turbo on it still, pretty sure it had all components except the air intake cover I could pick it up for about $50 but is it worth it?

Also can anyone give some info on the difference between the "stage 1" and "torque cam" cam grinds.

The truck will be a daily driver, tow a boat, maybe a camper eventually, hay wagons on the farm occasionally, and a trailer with skid steer or mini-excavator every now and then. It's mainly flat land low hills around here so a lot of flat land and mild incline driving.

I'd give 50 bucks just for the cross over and up pipe, The factory ford turbo is one of the better ones to have
