I was thinking about doing away with my pillar gauges and going to a monitor style setup kinda like an Edge, but since the idi doesn't have much in the way of onboard computers ...
I had my oil pressure "idiot gauge" quit on me and after a new switch didn't fix it and installing a manual gauge I found the relief in the filter/cooler stuck. (Now fixed showing 15-20 psi @idle 65+ @ WOT)
So now im wanting to find a setup that lets me monitor all points of interest Ie: egt, boost, oil temp & pressure as well as water temp, fuel pressure and maybe some other things I haven't thought about. I looked at the scangauge d, its close but it looks like its still for newer diesels. Does anyone know if there is a monitor that would work with the idi even if you have to run each sending unit wire back to the monitor?
I don't want to take out the gauges in the cluster because I like the factory look and don't mind their inaccuracies for basic use but, id like to have a better idea of whats going on.
I like my Auber dual gauge. If you got two dual gauges, then you'd have the ability to program four different values (e.g. EGT, boost, temp, and pressure) at an affordable price. If you got 3 dual gauges, then you could add two more values for display.
