Towing mirrors

I recently had a mirror break on my truck and everything i can find online has 4 studs on the towing mirror but when i took my door apart i only found 2. Does anyone know what i am messing up??

Tow mirrors

It is a 1999 crew cab with towing mirrors that do not telescope.

Are you talking about the mounting bolts that hold it on. If so there is a cover(grey) I think, that if you pull it off u will see the other 2 bolts/nuts. Been a while since I did this but if memory serves.Put some gum in your socket so you dont loose the nuts down in the door. Or are yours the paddle mirrors ?

Go to the Excursion forum. There is a tech folder thread listed in sticky threads at the top of the thread listings.

Click on that and scroll down to the Exterior section and you'll find two threads there on replacing mirrors.

Don't do this it Is more fun trying to find them stuck in that place that nuts go when they fail of the face of the earth.

open the door. remove the black plastic cover. you will see two nuts. remove the black tape looking material, and the other two nut openings will show their hiding place.

As said above there are 4 mounting points. Pull off the plug cover or plastic.
I just upgraded from paddles to Tow. Look at A1auto for replacement.

Mine are nice from there
