Back Seat Panel....

Okay, there's a panel that I dunno what it is... Ya know how the passenger side backseat has the wall panel that holds the jack and lug wrench? Well, what is that thing in the panel on the driver side?

Back Seat Panel....

I think the computer for the RABS is in there. Could be wrong, though.

Yeah, looked like an electrical box of somesort. My first thought was that it was possibly a computer. I know the main one is in the passenger floor board. And what is RABS?

Back Seat Panel....

Since you have a 4x4 B2, I would say its the ECU for the 4x4.That is where its at on my 88 and 89 B2s,

I'd say it prolly is the ECU because my truck doesn't have ABS. If I took a picture would that help? It looks like its new, actually, but that's prolly because the panel has prolly never been opened much, lol.

According to the Haynes manual, if you have Rear ABS, that panel is where the RABS computer is located. It says that RABS was an option beginning in 87. If you two wires connected to the top of the rear differential, then you have RABS.

I thought the ECU was always located up front by the passenger side kick panel.

But if you don't have RABS and you have a computer-looking thing in that rear panel, then I'm clueless (as usual).

GrayRanger, what do you mean by "ECU for the 4x4"? On my 90 4WD, the ECU (engine control unit) is up front in the passenger foot area, and the RABS computer is in the driver's side rear panel. As far as I know, there isn't a third computer controlling 4x4. Or am I totally misunderstanding?

I have the electronic "Touch Drive" 4x4, if that's helpful to know.

OK. I'm certain that I don't have one of those. Maybe because I have manual T-case and manual hubs? I didn't know any B2s had them, but I guess I'm still learning.

Tomorrow me and my dad finish working on possibly filling in the leak with it and hopefully being able to make my truck roadworthy. Anyway, once we're finished doing that I'll jump in it and get a picture of it.
