So I have been fixing issues with my truck, and so far she been good to me, I see a leak I find it, so my last leak I fixed, the oil cooler got refreshed with ne o rings, So I still smell EVANS coolant leaking and I see the freeze plug behind the oil filter is seeping coolant. My question is anyone have a picture/video for installing the OEM style freeze plug? The location seems easy enough, but before I drain coolant and remove this plug I like to have some better information to start off with, I have been searching but nothing I found is worth remembering.
Anyone have any solid info?
I'm not sure what the deal is with these type of freeze plugs are. I've never actually looked at one. I assume there some kind of a flat plug instead of a cup type. If so I'd think they'd be a bitch to install laying under the truck. I would try to get some kind of measurement on the hole and see if you could find a cup type replacement, much easier to install.
You can get rubber freeze plugs they should be cheaper than a block heater and are easier to get in hard to reach spots. Advance Auto Parts: Search Results for rubber freeze plug
