OLD GAS

1987 F 150 5 Lt. w/ two fuel tanks, the rear tank pump went out about 2 years ago w/ half a tank of gas, I’ve been adding stabilizer, then my son filled it up w/ gas two weeks ago so now it’s full.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com

What problems would I have if I siphon out the old gas from the rear tank and use it in the working tank, not all at once but little by little, so I can replace the pump? I don’t want to use this old gas on the new pump plus I would replace the inline filter periodically. Yes, I should’ve done back then.<o

Shouldn't be a big deal. I've run older gas than that through my truck, typically 2-4 gallons at a time, diluted with fresh and it's not caused any issues. The fact that your son already diluted it with fresh makes it that much less worrisome. Other's will say why risk it yada yada but that's my $.02

My grandfather stored his 66 Mustang for 11 years with a full tank & stabilizer. It ran on that gas when I had to move it for him, but barely.

I just came back from California driving an F350 that sat with a full tank for 10 years. I ran the tank down about 1/3 then filled it up and repeated as needed… no problems after 2500 miles.

My speedometer gear inside the manual tranny wore down so the cable doesn’t reach, any ideas other than opening the tranny?
