This weekend I'm replacing a slightly bent fuel return line (the one that attaches to the upper filter housing), and I'm trying to figure out what tools I'm going to need.
Particularly, I am trying to figure out which (if any) special disconnect tools I will need to separate the lower part of the rigid line from the flexible line. Will I need a special disconnect tool?
I've been there done that but don't remember the wrench sizes I had to use. The real pain is there is not enough room between the fuel bowl and the head. There is a lifting bracket bolted to the head that makes it just too tight to slide the line out and back in. With out pulling the fuel bowl it's a PITA. Other than the disconnect tool and I would have to go look but it is dark the bracket is held on by either torx head bolts or Allen heads I can't remember. If you already have the line off you might as well do the blue spring upgrade. Unless your like me and are changing the return line because you messed up In doing the blue spring swap.
Loosen and remove the bolt in the green circle at the top of the green line (second pic), it's a bracket that holds the fuel lines against the engine. When I took that out, the fuel line was much easier to move around. Once that's gone, loosen the nuts at the fuel pressure regulator, use the special tool to disconnect from the flexible fuel line, and take it out. Removing the air filter and cold side CAC hose should give you enough access.
Ignore the red, follow the blue:
(Thanks to Rusty for the pic)

I know this is a dead thread but I ran into the same problem for the same reasons. I got the old line out (bent it worse then I did before and managed to squeeze it out) but I can’t get the new line in. Any tips as to how you did it? I know it was a while ago but anything helps at this point.

Hey im running into the same problem. I was wondering if you had any tips or pointers on how you replaced the new line without bending or cracking it. Did you have to remove the lifting bracket or the entire fuel filter housing...?
