>Your missing the 255 V8 TallPaul!

Hmmm. Wasn't in the table, but maybe in the small print of the ad. I do recall discussion of the 255 before (basically a doggy de-stroked 302). Also in the early 80s at some point a doggy V6 became the base engine.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Apr-02 AT 09:08 PM (EST)]I thought it was 82-83 when the 3.8L was available. I always assumed that the 255 was the same years, but I've never even heard of a truck with this engine in it.
Going back into my Ford advertizement collection I see an ad for the 1981 F series that says, "New V-8 Mileage. New truck 4.2L (255 CID) V-8 gives record-high estimated MPG for V-8 Ford pickups." Then they list the est mileage as 17 and 26. So according to that the 255 V-8 first appeared in 1981, but then just because there is an ad that says so dosen't make it so. They might have started them in 1980 and waited for the '81 to do the promo.
I'm not sure if it's listed in the '80 Truck brochure or not, I dont' think it is. I know it's in the '81 brochure. My tech book shows it available in 1980. I've never even seen a 255, so can't truely say.
