Exhaust Systems for a 1998 FORD F150
Does any one have some advise on a exhaust system. I'm looking to increase my horsepower and torque on my 1998 Ford. I only have 35,000 miles on it, and I put a K&N air intake on it already. I have a 25' camper that it handles, but going up hills I want a little more power. I was looking at the Borla, Flowmaster and Gibson. I head the Gibson is really good. Thanks!

Depends on what your looking for... are you looking for a good sound as well as performance?? In my opinion the best performance muffler has to be a magnaflow, they have a very nice tone as well but the only downside is they just arnt that loud... i have never owned a truck with a flowmaster on it but I have heard that they do not deliver good low end torque.

I've got flowmaster Force II system and no regrets. Im pretty sure i didnt loose and low end torque. I know that true dual exhaust usually kills the low end torque though, but my set up is just a Y-pipe coming from one muffler, like most people do. I've heard that with gibson a lot of times you cant use your tire carrier, just what I hear, so I'd check it out more before settling on Gibson.

i had a 2 chamber flowmaster on my 88ford when i had it.....now i had a jasper 357.....302 bored .40 over and stroked so when i say it was wicked i mean it sounded NASTY......the newer trucks like the one i have now.....i own a 01 4.6 L stepside regular cab and from what i heard you can't really get them that loud......if your looking for loud i'd say FLOWMASTER for sure.....the difference from one exhaust to another performance whise i think is null compared to the difference in sound from a Flowmaster muffler and say a dynomax muffler......
Bottom Line: Sound FLOWMASTER
Performance: not a big difference from one to the other

I'm running a Flowmaster side exit system on my 98 F150, and I couldn't be more pleased. It sounds great, but not loud. I think it's because of the 50-series muffler. My Jeep has a true dual 40 series, and it sounds A LOT meaner than the truck. My Ford is also quieter than my buddy's chebby. We finally figured it out that it was due to the ford's dual cats.
