can these wheels be saved?

I had not even thought about it till I painted the one black just to see what it would like...
I scraped this clean spot with a screw driver. looks ok to me.

Media blast it and check for cracks. If there are any cracks, scrap them. Better safe than sorry.

You can get these wheels new for about $50.00 each from Summit racing. I bet a local tire store will be close and you won't have to pay shipping.

dont listen to them
those wheels are good enough for 99% of all things
worse case they start to wobble on the road and start to separate

if that happens just take the bad wheel off and replace with full size spare

ofcourse, this means you don't drive 100mph the first day around town while hauling a trailer full of cattle and cases of rare french wine in the back of the truck bed

i would spend my money on jackstands before i replaced 1/4 inch thick steel rims that started to "rust". drive slowly, test them out for a few days and i am 99% sure they will outlast any tire you chose to place on them

Most of that rust appears to be from brake dust (has metal in it) that piled up due to not being washed off regularly.
I'd blast the rusted areas, and look for any signs of deep pitting and/or cracking. If neither are present, and they aren't in the that same condition on the inside, where the tire seals, paint them, and run them.
I can see the 16" marking on a tire. If they were 16.5", I'd say scrap them and find some 16's. As long as the truck sat, it needs new tires anyways, regardless of how deep the tread may be.

That looks like it could be a recap......
Doesn't matter though, I wouldn't want to do much more than short trip around the block on tires that badly weather cracked.

That's the worst looking tire I've seen in a long time. Although they're Firestone tires, so it doesn't surprise me much.
