A/C alternative options.....

Can't stand the giant A/C heater box deal on the dents, I have an OLD aftermarket A/C setup I haven't installed yet, mostly cause it's old and I don't think it would cool down my crewcab. Has anyone found an A/C system that lends itself to a swap into a dent? Not looking for bolt in, but there has to be a better way than factory. Ideas?

You might check this out if you haven't found it yet. Company is "Nostalgic Air", at nostalgicac.com . Part # CK-7379-1FD , use your old heater or get one with all in it ,heat and cool .__JIM__

Here's a link to Nostalgic Air's Ford units.
Nostalgic AC - Ford AC Kits For Trucks - Ford Complete Kits - Complete A/C Kits
You could also check out Vintage Air and Classic Air for hang on units but Nostalgic is the only one that offers a 73-79 specific integrated unit.

Found those last night, pretty slick setups. At some point with all the custom build guys are doing a guys gotta get creative tho. I'm at the point where the firewall forward doesn't really lend itself to a bolt in setup anymore. Even putting a condensor in the front is going to need fabrication. Was mostly curious to see if anyone has rigged anything up other than a household unit wedged into the sliding rear window that worked out for them.

I rigged up a system that works great in my regular cab but its ugly, LOL. I use the truck for rock crawling so its no show truck shaped like a raisin and all. I used a universal condenser from nostalgic air as well as their receiver dryer and binary switch. I used bulk hose cut to fit and had a local hydraulic shop crimp the ends on. The compressor is from a jeep on a homemade bracket. The evaporator is from the rear of an expedition I cut the box in half so its just the blower and evap. It tucks in behind the passenger bucket seat and the air is ducted out to the front of the console with shop vac hose.

The system is ugly but will keep the truck cool in the summer wheeling in the south even with the windows down and with cold air blowing on you its comfortable even with the doors off. The factory heater box is still on the dash for heat.

For my 67 Fairlane I'm more concerned with looks so I'm currently piecing together a system using the under dash parts from a Honda or Nissan that will replace the factory heat box but won't really be visible like the trucks system is. I've seen someone do this on a chevelle and it works great.
