A/C Cooling Test
I recently bought a 02 Explorer and was wondering what simple test I can do to see if the refrigerant is low. It is hot here in NC and humid at the moment. When I run on the highway it seems to cool well but when I first start the engine after sitting in the sun it takes longer than normal to cool down. This truck also has rear a/c. I know that in my Cavilier the cool down feels much faster. I’ve never had a truck this big before and wanted to ask you all for opinions before I took it to the shop.

A/C Cooling Test
If you want to know if refrigerant is low use the presure gauge. If you just want to know temp stick temp gauge in ac vent. 55 to 60 degress should be satisfactory. If it all checks out and you want it to cool the quickest turn the ac control to max then you are circulating the air in the cab. On regular ac you are pulling fresh air from the outside.
