Another dumb question

I recently took my 1979 t-bird on a local cruise night everything went fine on the trip there and for about an hour of cruising up and down the Main Street. On the way home the tranny started spewing fluid out of the overflow tube. It is equipped with a 302 and c4 tranny. Can you give me any ideas??

Any recent service? Any repair history? Any change in operation just prior?

Possibly over filled? Any contamination, like water or antifreeze? Any ATF in the radiator?

The car was a barn find. Not sure on any prior service but the transmission fluid level was ok maybe on the high end of the cross thatched area of the dipstick. Color of the fluid seemed ok also ,kind of a dark pink in color.

And the level was checked with the vehicle hot, running in park on level ground?

Yes I checked it on level ground and hot.

Did you check the coolant level in the radiator ? Could be that the cooler line in the bottom of the radiator ruptured. But the trans fluid would also look like a strawberry milkshake.
