Disregard...fixed. Read on if you are having the same problem however.
My trailers "running" lights are not working. I have brake & turn lights, and I have trailer brakes. The problem is not grounding and it is not corroded contacts. I have removed the factory jumper harness from the back of the trailer socket that connects up to the plug above the spare tire. That jumper is fine...all six wires have continuity between both ends. I am simply am not getting any voltage from the wire that should send "+" to the plug, and nothing on the two wires for LH and RH Running Lights.
Is there a fuse somewhere I need to check? Where does that wire land back in the cab or engine compartment? Can I cut it and grab power source from one of the rear tails?
Need to haul a car tomorrow, and while I have turns and brakes...I want this fixed.
....and fixed! Call off the hounds ;-)
Fuse #38 I think it was. It's called Trailer Park Lamp not Running Light. Guess I should have looked a little closer and applied some "deductive reasoning" before seeking the experts.
On my 2000 there is a fuse for running lights in the engine compartment fuse box. If you have the owners manual, it will tell you which one!
Too late! You edited yours as I was typing!!
I've since learned that 1999 to either 2000 or 2001 had the secondary fuse box under the hood. From that point on (mine is 2002) there was only the one fuse panel under the steering column.
