Hi, I've got a 99 F-150 and the taillights aren't working, and I've got no ideas why. It has LED taillights with inline resistors (to slow down the fast blinker) and everything else seems to work. The brake lights work, along with the flashers, and blinkers. Every light in the interior works including the dash, and the headlights and front park lamps also work. I checked every fuse, including the ones under the hood, and nothing looked blown unless I over looked something.
Any suggestions?
i think the tail lights are on a fuse of their own, not with brakes and signals.. seems like the number is #18 ??? Check voltage at the wire to the bulb, if no power, then its normally the fuse.
my truck blew a fuse for TRAILER LIGHTS when i plugged the 6 prong trailer plug--- here is my note to myself
• Plugged in trailer with truck running and head lights on. No tail lights on trailer, but truck o.k. Found fuse box under hood drivers side corner. Three small fuses for trailer lights, left stop and right stop. #5 small 20 amp yellow fuse blown, replaced the fuse and lights work o.k. Don’t plug in trailer with head light switch on or truck running.
Found it, it was a broken wire right before the main clip that is underneath the bed by the spare tire. The guy who owned the truck before me taped spliced a trailer wiring harness into the main wiring harness, when it broke I removed it and the exposed wire corroded through till it broke.
