ham antenna install

Anbody installed a 2M antenna on their '11 and up SD? If so what kind and where?

I put a Larsen ¼λ antenna near the middle of the roof of my '11 extended cab. Using 5 watts for APRS I've been very satisfied. If I lived e.g. on the east coast I think I'd want more power and/or gain.

I would have to remove it every time I pulled into the garage and if I forgot (and I would) there would go my antenna.

I only occasionally need to remove it. The reason I didn't center the antenna is to easily reach it to exchange it with a weather cap. I also have a Comet B-20 (no longer marketed) which folds over easily, but you still must reach it. If a 12" antenna will fit in your garage the B-10 is still available.

When I lived near D.C. the ¼λ would never have satisfied me.

I highly recommend KØBG.COM as a source for mobile installations.
