Need to replace antenna

I need to replace my stock antenna on our 2017 F350 with something shorter. Looks like one option is a very short and stubby antenna, and wondered if it worked? Also, what about car washes, the antenna and the aluminum fenders? I never removed the antenna on my 2011 or 15, but a little worried about the 17. Is anyone had any bad experience or do you remove it before entering??

The antenna just unscrews from its mount. I added a short one and it works fine.

I got the antenna x 13" and it works just fine.. on Amazon less than $20

I always remove the antenna at the car wash, just keep it finger tight to make it easy.

I thought about changing to a short antenna, but decided to keep the long one as it works as a great height indicator when entering a parking structure rather than having the building indicator bump on my cab.
