I'm missing something here, you expect to get great fuel mileage from a 4+ ton truck with 4.10 or higher rear end, just go by a cadillac you might get the mileage you're dreaming about.
Ford has changed something in the programming for the regens for 2015. New owners are reporting regens which last more than 20 miles. They're also commonly reporting a loss of 2-3 MPG towing relative to their old 2011-2014s. Dropping from 11 mpg to 8 mpg towing is pretty significant.
FYI, I'm not that worried about the MPG drop due to the number of miles I drive a truck per year, it just isn't that significant. Inconvenient, yes, PITA having to stop more for fuel.
To reiterate, my big issue is the fact that Ford isn't stepping forward fixing things for existing customers which they KNOW are defective, in particular, the Job 1 2011 exhaust valves.
I drove and looked at all three too, never forget pulling out of the dealer with that first ford 6.7 I drove. BUT I never paid much attention to the others sound systems, now that I know fiat has better speakers, I'm trading the f250 in tomorrow for a cumminapart!
lol
Actually, i owned a Tiburon with the infinity sound system. I really don't remember being too impressed. My brother got his Chevy 2014 4x4 LTZ recently and I do have to admit his Bose system is sweet. Honestly, just sweet! But I have no complaints on my sony. I enjoy it just fine. I don't appreciate that In bluetooth connection to my phone I can not operate from the head unit, but its ok. I just control it on my phone.
I love all the hysterical posts from people who read of the dozen or less HPFP stories and jump into the rabid sky is falling panic. Drama drama drama.
The 6.7 forum is BORING compared to the 6.0 forum when that engine was still being produced.

One of the first things I did to my F-350 after buying it was to replace the speakers in my "premium sound system" with Infinity speakers. It helped but still didn't sound as good as the Infinity system in the Dodge.
Laugh all you like at the "cumminapart", the 5.9 is the standard against which the others are measured.

And when you are one of those existing customers with an uncovered warranty issue, then your concern will be valid. Right now you are paranoid or in your own words, afraid to drive your truck.
As to mileage, 2015 upped the hp and torque significantly. On the flip side you want to buy a truck that will pull a house faster and better than any other on the market when you already have a 2011 and a dodge that will do the job and you expect milage sympathy? How much will the trade cost you? How much diesel can you buy with that money to fuel EITHER or your current two trucks? Again, you're making no sense.

If I were really worried about MPG, I wouldn't have been looking at the F-450. I was looking at the 450 because I like the tranny and with loads I have sometimes, I like the 4.30 gears, the bigger brakes and the tighter turning radius of the 450 relative to the 350. I was thinking "Ah, great, they ditched that POS turbo". Of course, things might be really great with the 2015s, I don't know. I thought things would be really great with the 2011, runs like a raped ape, love the tranny. Maybe mine will go 100K miles before a valve drops or the turbo goes away, but the odds aren't in its favor. That's not even mentioning all the people left stranded due to this sensor or that taking a crap.
What I do know is that Ford failed to do what in my opinion was the right thing to do on the Job 1s, replace the defective exhaust valves and I decided to vote with my $$$$.

The odds aren't in it's favor? You have no clue what the failure rate is on the particular issue you're sweating! Your basing your bs fears off internet forum fear mongering. You have no idea how many 2011 trucks are out there with no issues with normal owners who have no idea what a forum is. Complete crap logic. You'll have to do better than that if you expect to convince anyone but your poor wife...
Ok you have clearly made your decision. Please stop trying to get attention. Sorry you are leaving the Ford community, but I wish you luck with your future endeavors.
My 2011 was completely flawless till 73,000 miles. Lost a turbo, Ford fixed it right up, running perfect when my 2015 showed. Traded it in with 80,000 miles and a bit of change. Time for a new one plus the exhaust brake which I needed.
So far my 2015 has been great. Runs like a 100-150 hp tune on a 2011-2014. Pulls like a fright train, stops great, really good with the exhaust brake. Mileage towing seems about the same as my 2011, 13 ish. Towing same loads as before close to 15,000lbs.
Empty it wants to get close to 19 but seems to regen about every 150 miles so average settles in around 16. Not bad, but not as good as the 11. But the way the whole truck performs over my 11 it seems to have been a good choice.
I know from talking to the 2 Ford dealers in my area, the 6.7's have had very very few issues. They jokingly say they could use a few more to work in since they don't hardly work on one. So for what it is worth.
Other than a couple of NOx sensors, a tranny soleniod and the crimped DEF line damaged in shipment, mine's been good, hasn't left me along side the road yet. Can't say the same for some of my others...
2001 - twice in 45,000 miles - once for cam position sensor, another time for failed clutch master/slave cylinder.
1997 - twice in 40,000 miles, once for blown HP oil line, once for failed 4R100 tranny.
1994 - never let me down in 50,000 but was pretty gutless.
First of all, EVERYTHING in 94 was pretty gutless. Remember that this was before the days of urban cowboys buying diesel pickups to do 12's at the strip.
Can't dispute the 4R100...but then you have the 48RE so.........
It seems like you started this thread as a Ford bashing thread. I'll bet you don't even bother selling the truck.
If Ford releases a TSB about dropping exhaust valves on early 2011 6.7s, I believe they should fix them for free for an extended period of time past the warranty. Other OEMs do this (but not HD truck OEMs). I know Toyota is a cuss word around here, but they had some issues in 2007 with some EPA equipment that they are still covering even though owners are way out of warranty.
Ford shouldn't be fighting the early adopters of their vehicles / engines. Quite the contrary, they should be fixing these issues if they are known issues.
I don't defend the move beck to the 5.9, but I do understand why someone would do that. For me, I've had good luck with my Fords, but if I ran into serious warranty fights / issues I'd probably jump ship and buy a Duramax or a new Ram with the Aisin.
I hope to not need to jump ship. As a 6.4 owner though, I'm surprised that I'm still a Ford owner. I could have done without that POS.
LOL! That's some funny stuff right there. Whatever makes you feel better. I'll be up all night worrying about my crap turbo, hpfp, and stereo. Oh wait, no I won't. You have had NO major issues with your 6.7 and yet you are afraid to drive it because a tiny number of people have had trouble later in ownership? You better sell everything and hide in your basement cause something might go wrong someday. Yeah, that makes sense... What makes even less sense is you come here bashing the generation of truck that most members own and expect understanding in your paranoid decision that has no basis in reality. Yeah, right there with ya brother.... Enjoy your exit from the horrible world of Ford that you never personally experienced but could happen at any moment...ohhhh scary.....
And, since you had the Dodge all along and your planned mods will allow it to do all your truck needs, then yes, your current Ford and the one you got scared off from buying, are unnecessary...
Lmao! That summed it up nicely.Nothing more to say.The thread subject make absolutely no sense to me.You have a good truck and appear from the outside to be paranoid. Not a good way to live.Drive it and forget it.

Reps for this post...
I'm out of bullets, but intended nonetheless
To each their own as to what they own, that's why there is a choice in the market out there.
Sorry to hear that your displeased with your 2011 and Fords failure to correct the issue. But, in Fords defense it wouldn't make sense to issue a recall on every 2011 truck that hasn't experienced this matter. It would be nice if they offered to extend a good faith repair up to a stated number of miles put on the truck, even if it was only extended to the original owner.
But, hey Cummins is a well respected power plant, do sticking to your Dodge will get no negative response from me.
