Really? While driving through the Rockies I was very disappointed in my 6.8's lack of power. Once I slowed down I was hard pressed to get back to speed. I actually thought several times that I would hate to be towing any size of trailer
Yes Jazz, really. But mine is special! Well not really special it just has 4.88 gears, Banks headers and 5 Star tunes, it LOVES to tow and eats up the hills in the East. I haven't ever pulled in the high Rockies, I'm sure the altitude and steeper, longer grades would take their toll on it's performance. I think by the time I'm looking to camp beyond the Rockies I'll be wheeling a diesel pusher Class A motorhome and be retired.
Of course my modded V-10 can't hold a candle to any modded 7.3 or 6.0, forced induction has soo much more potential! Maybe I'll get a blower......
6.0 vs 7.3.. Good times. The best 6.0l vs 7.3l ever. Mirror to mirror. RIP Muley. We miss you, bro. William vs Muley Barona, CA 7 09: Video Link: http://youtu.be/lOLBZfhHZuE

He is really confused. I have owned both, 7.3 all day, every day, hands down not even close to being equal.

To be clear, I was talking about MY V-10, not so much about 6.8s in general. Mine is tuned with headers and 4.88 gears, not very typical.
I have towed a similar weight trailer (11k lbs) as mine with my Fire Dept's 2000 F-550 with the 7.3 (stock) and I think mine handles the weight as well as the Deezle on our local hills. My personal experience with two specific trucks, I'm sure in a different area and with different trucks the results may differ. And as I said earlier, any tuned oil burner will out pull my modded V-10. And I'm not pulling at the kind of elevations found in the Rockies, at those elevations the smokers and their turbos will have the upper hand I'm sure.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no diesel hater, my next rig will be a diesel, I've taken this gasser about as far as I want at this time, for any more uumph I gotta burn some oil!
