This would all depend on the period of time your planning on putting that 125K miles on the truck. And yes it's a gamble or more like an insurance policy that you hope you don't have to ever file a claim on. But........just but.
I plan on picking up the PremiumCARE before I hit 36K on my 2013. While it is a good chunk of change I can see where it could pay for itself with just a few items going array in side the cabin IE: seats, radio system, power locks, a/c not to mention under the hood or within the drivetrain on items not covered by the basic 100K factory warranty.
While it's not for some, it is for others an option offered.
Drop a valve at 100,400 miles like that other guy and see how cheap $1400 is then!! Lol
That being said, I've always opted for the premium care on all my Ford products. Same theory applies, never seemed to have a problem with any of them but if I did with this technology beast, I'm too scared to see the repair bill!!!
I would like to have the extra couple of years, but don't think I am going to burn through 125k miles in 7 years..
What have you guys chosen?
I am in the same area, looking..
here is my calculation
we do less than 10k/yr on the truck. its almost 2 yrs since bought first time. have 20,000 now
7yrs = 70,000 miles - 20k now = 50k to go in 5 yrs.
so 75k should work. if we got crazy every year, then maybe I would need to go to the 100k plan..
I bought my '11 F350 used with 63000km on it last Nov and it already had the ESP and Maintenance Plan on it so it only cost me 200$ to transfer them. I've only ever bought an extended warranty once before and that was a 3rd party warranty on a 97 Safari van, it paid for itself when the transmission went but only just and was a hassle to claim on.
Typical Ford off-shored website development and poor proof reading Sam..
It is a bit confusing, but the text at the bottom has probably been re-cycled since 2011 and you just caught it!
I snuck in a PremiumCare ESP warranty at 99,993 on my truck, got the longest offered, 3yr/36k mile, for right at $3,000, and I'd have probably paid twice that, if that's what it took.
It doesn't cost me anything to pay it off monthly, and above and beyond the "bumper to bumper" coverage, there's other benefits that didn't cost really anything: rental vehicle ( I've got a spare truck, but wth not, it was like $40 or something) roadside assistance, towing reimbursement, travel expenses reimbursement, I mean, read into the packages, there's a lot more there for your money, than just the powertrain.
I don't want to sound like I'm drinking the ford Kool-Aid, but this ESP stuff they offer, and for the minimal costs....... I can't describe how relieved I was when I learned that it was offered. My truck had 89k on it when I got it, so at first I was "cool, still got some of that 100k powertrain coverage", but as the miles rolled by, and I'm enjoying my navigation and a/c seats and thinking about that engine and transmission, started to get a bit nervous about any "what-ifs". Now I've got worry-free motoring till 136k mi or 2017.
So this is confusing to me.. When you spec out the Premium Care, you are paying a higher price since it is for a diesel. It covers the diesel for 2 more years and 25k miles. Then when you buy the Diesel Plus package (which appears to be a totally separate - independent plan), you are buying that two years of additional coverage all over again and extending the 100k mile warranty to 200k miles..
Or
Do you think you got a reduced price (like for a gas powered truck) on the Premium Care plan since you purchased the Diesel Plus package?
