I will be pulling my 300 I6 tonight, in order to sand blast the frame from the firewall forward.
Question is whats the easiest way to pull this engine out? It has 300I6/NP435/NP205
Can I leave the bell housing attached to the engine and just pull the whole thing forward off the input shaft of the 435, without anything in the clutch assembly coming loose? Or does that take pressure off anything and let one of the bearings drop.
You can do it that way, you will just have to line up the release bearing upon installation, which I would replace anyway while you're in there.
I'd recommend removing the entire front clip, makes life a lot easier. The I6 is fairly long and can be difficult to maneuver in and out of place, especially with the bell housing still attached.
X2 on what Shane said, its a fairly straightforward easy job though, especially when you've done it as many times as I have, probably could get it all apart yourself in a day though and you will be WAY HAPPY you took the front clip off when it goes back together
