2000 Ford explorer engine swap help.

Need a little help here guys! So I bought this engine out of a 2000 explorer 5.0 to put in my 77 F100 this engine is going to get fuel injected using all the components out of a 1990 Mustang, now I just need to know which components out of my old 302 I'm gonna need to move to the new engine besides the obvious ones like timing cover, water pump harmonic balancer and power steering and alternator bracket,

so is there anything else that needs to transplanted to the new engine?

Don't know which style frame it's going in but that oil filter mount may need changed.

Also the motor mounts but that falls in the obvious list.

That's about as much as I know about little V8s.

The 77 and 90 will have different balances. The harmonic balancer will not swap. You will need the 90 balancer. Not sure if the crank pulley will bolt up to it.

Well that sounds problematic! I will do some research on that issue and see what I find.

being that your engine has the gt40p heads, the spark plugs are angled different than the standard sm blk heads. your stock exhaust manifolds may not clear all the plugs / wires. not sure if you can use the explorer manifolds on your truck or not.

He's right.

Forgot about that. I'm going with old 351W heads to get around that problem on mine.

I will be using the manifolds that came with the new engine the GT40p ones, I will just have to take the truck to the muffler shop to have them route my existing exhaust in to the new manifolds.
