Check you connector on both side. Mine had the tabs that hold the back side break off. I can push the connector together enough that it stays, but after a few good bumps on a long drive and it pops back out. I plan on replacing the entire assembly before I tow anything next time. If yours is broke like mine you could temp fix it with some super glue maybe. I think taking off the rear bumper makes it easier to get to also.
