And insist that the are torqued with a torque wrench. As an ex technician I found that those torque sticks were never as accurate as a wrench. Never did like them.
Yea they figure tighten them as tight as they can with a Air Impact Gun Specs are 150 Ft Lbs just poor lazyness, you got to oversee as much as you can when someone is taking care of YOUR Truck,Torque Sticks Suckkkkk
Ford Service put my aluminum rims back on the truck and did a brake service.
4000km later, several wheel studs snapped off on the driver's rear wheel. The Tech at the Ford dealer found that the other wheel nuts were loose.
What could cause this? Why would it take so long to develop a problem?
Anyone else experience the same things?
Exactly what ecoboost12 said, wheels were installed with an impact gun and the nuts were way over torqued. Bad news is the all over the wheel studs should be replaced now. You should definitely go back the the dealer who did this and make them fix their mistake.
Thanks conger,
For the thumbs up so seldome in life, but we're entitled to our opinion that some listen too.
Happy to help. I call it as I see it. I saw this same thing a couple of years ago when I was my local tire shop. I young guy brought his truck in on the back of a tow truck. Back wheel came off on the highway. The shop told him all the studs had to be replaced since they had all been seriously over torqued. Big bill too.
