6 volt tach, for flathead V8?
I've got a '52 239 flathead 8, one thing I've wanted for a while is a tach. It has a 3 speed and 3.91, so to say the least it is screaming at high speeds... and the speedometer doesn't do much for me... so I pretty much keep it around 50.
Anyway, is there anywhere to get a small 6 volt tach? Just a round one with a base to mount anywhere I want.
Thanks

Many 12V tachs will work on a 6V car Karm.
You need the type that has the option for a signal input as well as a seperate DC line.
Then you install a capacitor between the tach and distributor ( a value of .25 to 1 mFd @ 50VDC works fine) and run the tach off a dedicated 12V battery. The current drain is miniscule; many use a golf cart or the smallest size lawn tractor battery tucked out of sight.
I run oldie 6V JC Whitney tachs on 2 of my flatheads; they still show at flea markets. Ive wired up the 12V for a few customers.
