Does anyone restore their dent side? I bought ours equipped with 8"
wide tires on spoked rims, pie-plate air cleaner, custom steering wheel that
blocked the instruments and real loud exhaust. That stuff vanished as fast
as greased lightning. Now our Stella resembles the red pick-up on the
cover of the 75 brochure. (Stella is purple from the factory) She has a pair
of truck mufflers for a sweet sounding 390.
Is it possible to have a sub section for original / restored dent sides?
Thanks for the plug HIO.
The Pumpkin isn't going to be a 100% true restoration. I would class it more as a "restomod".
What my theme is, is I am rebuilding the Pumpkin into the truck that, if I had ordered it in 1973, this is how I would have liked to have been able to order it.
Overall it will look like a stock, restored original. But there will be a few things that aren't original. The items that are original will be either the original parts or NOS genuine parts.
If that's not possible then high quality reproductions.
Overall though, it will be very close to a true restoration.

I dig it.. it's improving on the breed. Let's call it a "Restification". You've been updating and backdating selected parts/systems, right?
I guess mine is a "resto mod". Original appearance except for 16"x7" US wheels and slightly bigger 245/75/16 tires. Also original powertrain. The future includes upgraded powertrain but same exterior appearance. My example does work time to time hauling full loads of siding & roofing, cleaning up after tornadoes, pulling trailers or what ever. Upgrades will improve performance and make it better at working yet preserve mostly original appearance. That's my choice. Other members go another route. Just about every time I fuel up I hear "nice truck"... sometimes at stop lights. Restos, mud trucks, working trucks... they are all fun! No need to separate them.

Right, the two biggest differences (so far) between mine and what was available in '73 are true dual exhausts and the Sanden A/C compressor.
Other mods/improvements are all stainless hard lines and I'm planning on a leather interior and base coat, clear coat paint.
Why would you want a section for restored vehicles? Isnt this section of one website enough?
There are very few here that are going for a true restore. Most that can, are still choosing aftermarket tires, hoses, synthetic fluids and "now days" shocks and sealants.
I personally am driving my truck til it falls apart. Please dont require me to shift into 4 wheel drive to climb a hill to see your restored truck.
A majority of the pictures I see on this web sight are jacked up with monster tires.
As I have stated several times before, our Stella has 235-75RX15 white stripe tires
with wheel covers and a stock air cleaner. Wish I could ditch the headers.
Stella is basically a stock truck. I just requested a sub section of show-off our dent sides
just for stock trucks. What does the web-master weigh in on this?
