ok lets say you arent happy living at home, or in your current state for that matter.
i run a business thats is seasonal, ( tree and stump removal ) so i dont make any $ in the winter, i dont own a house, i can sell my snowmobile and four wheeler, other than that my only bills are my truck-525 per month, stump grinder-170 per month, insurance-187 per month, cell phone-45 per month... gas and food...
i have a pretty large group of friends, but unfortunatly 3 of my best friends are moving to south carolina, i have the option to move with them. ive wanted to leave this city/state for years now, and the benifit of working year round down south would be nice too. ive been thinking about moving to florida in the winters with my sister anyways
I can assume you've been to these states before? If not, can you do a trial visit to these places first? You may not be happy where you are, but does it make sense to go somewhere that has the potential to make you even MORE unhappy?
I've been to Florida a number of times, and it's just not my favorite place. Everyone here in Western New York DREAMS of moving to Florida (I guarantee Rochester winters are worse than Minnesota's!), but it just isn't for me. The strange part is: I can't really tell you why. It just doesn't feel like "home" to me. Home is where your heart is, and for me that's somewhere in the Northeast. I just don't want to see someone go from the frying pan into the fire.
never been to south carolina though. the apartment they are looking at is a 3 bedroom apt. for $1000, built in 2000, 2 miles from the ocean, i think they said its right by daytona beach. if you knew me and my buddies 4 of us could live like kings in a 3 bedroom apartment.
a few things that excite me about this, is ive always wanted to go to daytona beach during "bike week" or see the daytona 500, both of these something that Minnesota canteven compare to. PLUS being able to work year round would be sweet.
ok correction- i mentioned daytona beach ealier- i put tha in by mistake. they had listings for some apartments by daytona beach Florida... i cant remember where exactly in S.C. they were looking at
You have nothing holding you there and you are unhappy then a move would be indicated.
Where you move to should be considered as to your new employment situation and how good your friends are.
If I were you and the friendship is strong, I'd have to say
I'm outta here!!!!
Good luck and live life so there are as few regrets as possible.
If you don't have anything "tying you down", and it sounds like your still fairly young, "GO FOR IT". If not, you will sit back in a few years a ask yourself "why didn't I go when I had the chance?". If it doesn't work out in S.C., maybe you can use Fl. as a back-up plan. Good luck!
I still have Good Friends & Family in Ill., Good Friends in Colo. and Good Friends & Family on the West Coast of Fla. I moved here to the East Coast of Fla. going on 15 years ago. Friends are friends. If they're true friends, they always will be, if they're acquaintences, you'll meet many, many more of them.
Do what's best for you. It's definately a hard decision, but if your only worry is the friends/family you're leaving behind, don't sweat it. Family is always family and the friends will come visit for the change of scenery.
