Builttough250, what kind of grinder do you have. When we moved down here to FL our back yard was filled with stumps - about 40 of them. A guy came out with this rig he was pulling behind his truck and ground them all into chips. Cost me $200.00 but well worth it. He had a movable head on a track that was hydraulically controlled. Took him a while to get positioned but no time at all to get the stump with a series of back and forth sweeps.
the one thing that is really making me think "no" is the fact that im just starting to get my business "flowing" to where in starting to get refferrals from previous customers. im afraid to be in the position again where i wonder "whens the next job coming?" sure when i *first* started out i was getting 1-2 job per week, but when they are sometimes only 100 dollar jobs you dont get too far. thankfully i live at home, and had other income coming in, then things got rolling and i left that job.
Bubba Shrimp- my grinder is a Vermeer 252- not the smallest but not the biggest. costs 170 per month for payment, fits nicely on a 5'x8' trailer, self driven on its own wheels. definantly gets the job done but could be more powerful. on a good day i can make $750 just grinding stumps, but those days are few & far between. if i stay in MN i want to get into the phone book, better advertising, more $$$
MBNV992- my truck payment is 525 per month, for 4 years. sure, i could extend it to 7 years and have a much lower payment, but i want to pay off as much as possible in as short of time as i can
Whenever I get the oportunity, I move.. I have lived in nearly every country on earth, and have been in Memphis for nearly three years.. I would LOVE to move, anywhere, I don't mind, I want to go to a cooler place, with less bugs, and less murders.
When I was younger, around 17 I left home 82-83. I lived in SoCal at the time. So off I went, first stop..Las Vegas NM, worked on a ranch, bucking bales, tending cows..next, Angel Fire NM ski resort..made snow at night, bussed tables, and swept floors during the day...next stops Lubbock TX, Texhoma TX Liberty KS..a few more in TX...but then back to CA.....oh, I had no car @ them time, just my wits.
I am always up for new scenery and experiences. Here is my take on the pros and cons.
#1(con) You have to leave your snowmachine ( ok if it's an arctic cat or yamaha) but do take your 4 wheeler( especially if it's a raptor or a 500 quadracer )
#2 (con) Too humid and too many bugs and snakes.
#3 (con) A lot of those people still haven't forgot the civil war and you will be a convenient person to hate if there ain't no "******s" around
#1 pro (major) You would be in the heart of stock car racing country
#2 pro, you won't have to do the doe-se-doe with the guber brains on the icey roads.
#3 pro, ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!

Whoah there hillbilly, I moved from IL to FL and in the last two years I've seen 2 snakes (outside) and 3 bugs (inside). (not counting the 50,000,000,000 mosquitos). If you take your trash out and don't leave half-eaten cheeseburgers under your couch you won't have a bug problem. Mosquitos really aren't a problem where I am either.
I think if you drive a Ford truck you'd fit right in with all the other fine folks here in FL. It would help if you learned to chew tobacco though.
The humidity can be high and it does get hot, but in IL it was hot and humid in the summer and -20 and snow in the winter.
I had to move back to IL for five years to take care of my mother and when she passed away I couldn't wait to get back to FL.

Besides, the way Central and North Florida are growing, you'll find more than enough work to keep you busy. Not only do people like to destroy a perfect piece of land by taking all the trees out, the ones that sell the pines to the logging companies have a ton of stumps left to be removed.
Just don't move south of Hwy 60. It's growing way tooooooo fast down here.

Actually I have never been to Florida, I was referring to N.C. I have been there. I currently live in East Texas and it has to be the bug capitol of the world (as I know it) They don't much care for Yankees here either but they are polite enough not to let it show.
Whoops! Sorry, I thought you were talking about Florida.
I used to live in central FL (Orlando) and they had these big old flying palmeto bugs all over the place. I hardly see them up here in northern FL.
Probably over half the people in FL moved here from up north so I don't think there are too many "good ole boys" to worry about. I am a senior citizen so I don't run with the young crowd - might find a few more of them there.
I've been to Cherokee and to Fletcher for Goldwing rallies. Mighty pretty country up there.
I have lived in about ten different states and visited around 20 more. I have found good people where ever I go and something to like where ever I live ( except Watford city N.Dak. )
But after living in Alaska for 16 years, every other place just falls short. I have been in east Texas for two years and I spend every single day trying to figure out how to get back to Ak.
If you like AK I hope you get back there some day. There are lots of nice places in the USA. I like it out west. I've never lived there, but have gone through by car and motorcycle. I especially like the mountains and buttes in Utah and Wyoming. I believe the butte in "Close Encounters" was in Wyoming.
If we all liked the same thing everyone would be in one place and that would get mighty crowded.
