Joining the "Good trip" trend.

Small trip with a group, unloaded other than a full toolbox 'just incase ' and fuel. about 700km round trip. First day up to destination outside temperature was 18c/65f and my truck ran cold i felt, never exceeded 190f EOT. Mainly ran 188 EOT/184 ECT, may have been cold but spread kept me smiling. EGTs stayed at 750-800f, Fuel PSI at 62 all day, transmission stayed at 160f.

(Today) The drive back, hottest day of the year so far at 32c/90f in these parts of canada. Much better running temperatures, highest EOT was 209, regularly ran at 207f EOT/203f ECT. Still good spread . Transmission was at 180f with same numbers in fuel PSI and EGTs. All these numbers are taken at 120 Kmh or 75 Mph.

Someone please tell me i got 300% lucky with a blind purchase

Well, other than my alternator not charging at idle but that has nothing to do with the engine

I'd say that's pretty decent especially for a blind purchase. I WOULD be concerned about the FICM health with a marginal alternator though. It's a lot easier and cheaper to change an alternator than a FICM.

Forgot all about that since it's been warm, FICM is no good anywhere below 40 degrees F or so, start dropping below 45. But since it's warm in the summer it hasn't dropped below 47.5 and i just charge the batteries after every couple small trips where i know its needed to cover the weak OEM alternator that also doesn't like to charge at idle sometimes. Other stuff to pay for ATM, so holding off best i can on a FICM and Alternator, hopefully until nov/dec
