M5OD squealing
I've had the truck 2-years and drive it rarely (I bought it with 155kmi). It has always been hard to shift. Today, I noticed a squealing noise. At first, I thought it was coming from the rear end, but now I've noticed the noise vanishes when the clutch is disengaged (clutch pedal to floor).
Do I need to replace the input shaft bearing? The throw-out bearing and slave cylinder? I've never done it, but I think I can manage after I read-up a bit and borrow a couple of tools (feeler gauge, bearing puller).
New info:
I did some experimenting, and the squeaking noise is very quiet and infrequent while driving forward, but while backing-up the sound is more frequent and much louder. The noise definitely disappears (or becomes very quiet) when I depress the clutch pedal, but I would swear that it is coming from the rear end. It sounds very much like a failing axle bearing. So either my ears are playing tricks on me, or the sound is travelling down the driveline from the clutch/transmission.
