Hello all! My F-350 broke down on the interstate today with oil everywhere, making me think it was really bad. Got home a little while ago and degreased the engine and found a small hose right behind the fuel filter that goes from one head to the other that has blown out in the middle. My question is how do I remove it and would that have made my truck kill because it's part of the HPOP system? Any help is greatly appreciated.
That's a high pressure oil line. It's removed by pressing the black plastic ring down toward the fitting in the head. There's a tool available to remove it, but I've always been able to use two thin screwdrivers on opposite sides to press it in and release the internal clip. And yes, blowing one of those lines will shut the engine down. The injectors are fired by the hydraulic pressure the lines provide.
if it goes between the heads it is a high pressure crossover line HPX (aftermarket) not the high pressure oil line (factory) from left side of high pressure oil pump to each head
clay has all of them, lh and rh high pressure oil lines and the stainless crossover line. and the tool to remove the quick disconnects RIFFRAFF FORD DIESEL PERFORMANCE PARTS
I would like to thank you guys for the input. I wasn't able to get the hose off of the fittings trying to improvise screwdrivers for the tool normally used. But what I was able to do was order the hoses for both sides and new fittings and unscrewed the fittings to get the hoses off. Tomorrow morning I pick up the new stuff at a local ford dealer $284.00 2 hoses 4 fittings (I'll take it) Thanks again.
