Muffler Bracket Suggestions
Muffler Bracket Suggestions
I just bought a Walker 18577 SoundFX muffler and it doesn't have the bracket on it my stock 1999 muffler does. I could just rig something but would like to see what others did to support their exhaust by the muffler. I obviously want something durable and would work as well as the original.
I don't have a welder readily available.
What did you do?

What did you do?
buy a 5/16 rod at the hardware store. bend it to look like the original rod that is welded to the muffler, but make the new rod lay against the exhaust pipe. Add another muffler clamp around the exhausts pipe that clamps the 5/16 rod tight to it.
You know, that's exactly what I was thinking of doing. The rod is U-shaped with two insulators so I was going to bend up two sections and clamp them to the tail pipe section. Then when I got a hold of a welder I was going to weld them to the pipe or most likely the clamp.
Steve, is 5/16s the same size as stock to fit into the holes of the insulators? Things are a bit crusty down there and I can't get an accurate measurement.
