Fully loaded the camper in my signature below is 3,000 pounds. The F-350 handles it just fine. That said, I ordered it with every heavy duty spring/suspension option Ford offers, and then added air lift bags and RS9000 shocks. Still using the factory anti-sway wire.

I had 3500lbs of cement bags in my bed last month and with an overleaf kit that claimed 1500lbs of additional load I was basically riding on the rubber bumpers between the frame and axle. I do love bed campers and the very nice ones are up in the 4000+lb range....but honestly...i think I would go with a two behind camper so all the weight and handling issues can be mitigated by the tow behind's extra axles.
