as my 1996 reaches 200,000 miles what should a person do for preventitive maintenence? i think of the "big trucks" doing the bottom end after so many miles. should or can these types of things be done with the PS to keep them well maintained? when should the injectors be overhauled or replaced?
This is more practical advice than technical advise -
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Exceptions -
1) If this is your only truck for business.
2) If you travel out in the middle of nowhere, where a breakdown could be dangerous.
4) If you can save big $$$ by performing the maintenance. This is more applicable to a truck with 50,000-100,000 miles, as with 200,000 plus you will still probably incur some rebuild costs before long.
3) If your wife would kill you if you made her late for her hair appointment.
well i am also in the aviation business, and we maintain our aircraft so they won't break down when you need them. i like to do this with my vehicles if possible. so if i can replace injector o-rings ahead of time and not have them give me trouble i feel i am one step ahead of the shop. i realize this costs you money up front, but as in aviation, if your aircraft is sitting you ain't making money!!!!
