My 2005 F250 BLEW, blown it's Hose to intake, on the cool side today. Right down at the intercooler. And instead of going back with original hard plastic does anyone know of a better replacement/part, fix?
Part #6C646 is the culprit, right the flex end. Blew it right in half.
I put the Riff-Raff kit on my '06 a year or so ago. Lines right up withe the elbow, no mods necessary.
Just a little tip. It's pretty oily and hard to reach down there. The blue boots will slip if you don't get everything spotless when installing it. My popped off a couple of time on my first trip and getting it back on on the side of the road isn't fun havin to pull the air filter out:
^^^------You don't want to do this!
I used the old clamps off the plastic tube and double clamped the the bottom boot. I also trimmed about an inch off the bottom boot length so the metal pipe didn't sit against the front of the engine. It's easy to see how it should line up. Haven't had a problem since.

I have a 2005 model. Is it common for that plastic pipe to fail?
I found the lower radiator hose had been rubbing on mine
and left a spot. I moved the mesh sleeve back up a bit.
From what I hear the flex joint is one place that they fail.
See my tread.... Sinister Diesel Intercooler pipes/boots with elbow. I just installed mine this weekend. Got mine on sale from MKM Custom.
Also Bulletproof Diesel makes a kit that will replace the plastic end tanks on your stock intercooler for about $270. Then you have to remove the intercooler and have someone weld it up for you. But that would still be much less than an aftermarket intercooler. Search their site for more info.
Thanks everyone for your advice. I bought today from a local 4wheel shop a
AFE power replacement pipe, boots and clamps came as one. Long story short did not work. Clamps not big enough, rubbed my upper radiator hose, rubbed fuel filter housing. DANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Called them back on it and all they said bring it back we'll look at it. We have never had any problems out of them.
The T-bolts where not even bent, just straight. Well CRAP!
